First Barony / Express interest in a promotion here
« on: April 12, 2018, 03:43:05 PM »
The guild is growing large enough to start delegating tasks. Anyone who would be interested in becoming a baron please post here. We may start incorporating a weekly discord chat to try to increase engagement, so you would meet with me and your group once a week should that work. You will also be responsible for posting and following up on the weekly update check ins.

What were last week's goals?

Keto again
Clean my room
Follow-up on job leads (2 applications are out, call them and look for at least 2 more opportunities)

How did they go?

Keto was mostly a failure, though I succeeded on some days.
Did all the laundry in my room, but there's still work to be done
Jobs are looking promising, success

What are your goals for the next week?

Possibly do an application in person
Finish my room
Try Keto again

How productive was your last week (1-7, 7 being the highest)

What would have made it better?

Getting sleep at a good time. Exercising more.

How you you rate your well-being?(1-7)

4

What would make it better?

Feeling that I'd used my time better. Diet. Sleep. Getting a job lined up and finances manageable

What were last week's goals?

Call doc about BP
Workout 3 times
Get keto

How did they go?

I called the doc and have an appointment, so that was a success. I worked out twice, though it would have been more had I not been experiencing pain when I tried. Safety first! I would consider this a partial success. I completely failed to go keto. I pushed it back a few days since I needed to buy some more food, and didn't have the opportunity by Wednesday. Today was the day that I was supposed to get to it, and I didn't.

What are your goals for the next week?

Keto again
Clean my room
Follow-up on job leads (2 applications are out, call them and look for at least 2 more opportunities)

How productive was your last week (1-7, 7 being the highest)

I'd say a 4
What would have made it better?

I got the most important things done, but smaller things backslid, and I felt I didn't always use my time well. I think that part of my problem is my variable work schedule. I do better with routines, so I'm hoping that I can find a future job that allows me to have that. At least on my next schedule, there will be the opportunity for more consistency.

How you you rate your well-being?(1-7)
5

What would make it better?

Reduce stress, get more regular sleep, workout and eat better

Introductions / Hello!
« on: March 31, 2018, 12:30:15 AM »
Hi! My name is William (some call me Will). I'm 25 years old and my gf and I are expecting a baby girl in August. I am looking for a better job at the moment (this development caused me to drop out of college), have a few things on the horizon. I like to think I'm a pretty bright guy. I enjoy reading, politics, and philosophy, though I'd like to keep controversial topics mostly off of this forum, as people of different backgrounds should be welcome to benefit. I may be immediately breaking this rule by using an idea from a figure who is controversial to some (though IMO because extreme people take him viciously out of context), Jordan Peterson, who makes the point you shouldn't try to remake the world in your image until you can keep your room clean. Well, I'm sure most of us could stand to be tidier, literally or otherwise, else we wouldn't be here.

I decided to make this forum after toying with the idea of using fractals as an organizational structure for human endeavors. I had become fairly enamored with fractals as some secret to the universe, after watching a PBS documentary on them. I thought something like fractals could explain the organization of complexity out of simplicity (and this rather brilliant man came to a similar conclusion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eC14GonZnU& ). I thought that fractally nested groups could allow for a number of beneficial effects. Having small groups would allow for more cohesion, while the treelike-structure would allow information to flow up and down and sideways.  After a while, I realized rather sheepishly that I had simply come to the conclusion that has been around for millennia: that of monarchy or feudalism. Almost every effective organization has a pyramid structure, from governments and militaries, to churches, charities, and corporations. So I wanted to try to use the concept to make people's lives better, using the things I've learned from my own experiences in life. I've worn many hats, from thespian to activist, leader to mentally ill, student and employee, SO and soon to be father. I hope that I can help others with what wisdom I may have gleaned from my time, and to obtain more from working with everyone here.

I've experienced some spam problems, so not all of the boards are publicly visible. I check a few times a day for new members. If your email looks like spam, it may get overlooked, so if a couple days have passed without you seeing the other boards, please try again.

About / About the New Feudal Society
« on: March 27, 2018, 11:56:52 PM »
In my life, I find I perform better when I have a boss, but when I have to direct myself I struggle. If you have this problem, this might be the site for you! We seek to combine life coaching with the historical structure of feudalism.

Some basic guild mechanics. Leaders will hold weekly group chats and monthly one on ones. Group size is five, your life coach will be in their own group of 5, and so on. The rankings are as follows (based somewhat on the English peerage system):

Peasant (lurker who hasn't introduced themselves)

Knight (basic fighter against the travails of life)

Baron (runs a group of 5 knights)

Earl (Runs 5 barons)

Count

Duke

King

You will be promoted based on how much effort you put in and how helpful you are to your fellows, as well as showing a potential for leadership.
